About me

Veronique is a seasoned development and peacebuilding professional with over 20 years of experience working with the United Nations, international organizations, and NGOs in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. Her expertise spans peacebuilding, social cohesion, community development, and inclusive governance.

She began her UN career as a United Nations Volunteer with MONUSCO (Democratic Republic of Congo) from 2002 to 2004, serving as a Communication Assistant and managing sensitive communications across mission areas. In early 2005, she worked as an Intern with the UN Volunteers Recruitment Cell in Bonn, Germany, supporting recruitment processes as a Recruitment Assistant. Later that year, she served with UNMIL (Liberia), contributing to electoral assistance, democratic processes, and community stabilization initiatives. From 2006 to 2008, she returned to MONUSCO in the DRC, further supporting electoral and community development efforts.

In the first half of 2009, she worked as a Gender Officer with an INGO in the DRC, integrating gender-sensitive approaches to ensure women’s participation and protection were central to peacebuilding and community programs. From late 2009 to 2011, she conducted election observation missions with the European Union Election Observation Mission (EUEOM) in Malawi, Burundi, and Togo, the OSCE in Albania, and The Carter Center in South Sudan during the referendum, contributing to the promotion of democratic governance across Africa and Europe.

From 2015 to 2023, Veronique served with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Civil Affairs Division, holding senior leadership roles including Acting Head, Civil Affairs Regional Field Office and Supervisor of the Social Cohesion Unit in the Central Region. She managed peacebuilding projects, Trust Fund initiatives, Quick Impact Projects, and programs supported by the UN Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect (UNOGPRP), with a combined budget exceeding USD 2 million across five regions. Her leadership strengthened coordination with local authorities, communities, civil society organizations, NGOs, and international partners, significantly improving project delivery, visibility, and impact.

A career highlight came in 2015, when she successfully facilitated the first-ever MINUSMA-supported dialogue between Dogon farmers and Fulani herders in Koro Cercle, Mopti Region. The two-day dialogue brought together over 400 participants and marked the first time in three years that the communities met peacefully, shared meals, and engaged in constructive discussion. The initiative was widely praised by the Governor of Mopti, the SRSG of MINUSMA, community leaders, and local authorities, becoming a turning point for reconciliation in the region.

Since October 2023, Veronique serves as director of the International Development & Community Organization (IDECO) in Ghana, where she leads strategy, partnerships, and program implementation focused on poverty reduction, education, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
